Diro Haute Couture show for Fall/Winter 2008/2009 in Paris FRANCE, Paris : Diro Haute Couture show for Fall/Winter 2008/2009 in Paris SYNTHE - John Galliano, designer DOPESHEET The first day of the Haute Couture fashion shows opened with Dior fashion house at the Rodin Museum. Under the grand marble colonnades, the first model made her entrance wearing a brilliant white coat accompanied with a leather patent corset belt named "Bar" in reference to the suit created by Christian Dior in 1947 when the collection was named "New Look" and made history as it announced the beginning of a new era. For his Autumn/Winter 2008/2009 Haute Couture fashion show, John Galliano defined the rules from the very first outfit; it's not about reinterpretation, but about breathing a breath of fresh air whilst keeping in mind Dior's codes. Not extravagant, but highly sophisticated designs, intricate details, such as the jackets with an added panel of fabric which cascades like a waterfall or the outfits where all volume is carried on the hips, not forgetting the belts. Bar proposes similar dresses for the evening. Muslin, organza and tulle are used for skirts and dresses, veiling legs, defining a new sexy stride. The pastel based colours (pinks, purples, watery green, and peach) are emphasised by lavish embroidery. Thanks to John Galliano, Dior fashion house has entered into a contemporary era in which it maintains all of its magic. |
